Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu defined

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport that teaches a smaller person how to defend himself or herself against a larger adversary by using leverage and proper technique. The Gracie family, the founders of BJJ, modified judo and traditional Japanese jujitsu to create the art.

BJJ Classes


Our Foundations program is where all new comers start their SBG journey, whether they're beginners or have years of training under their belt. In this class, we work on fundamentals - the postures and positions that allow our students to train safely. To us, fundamental doesn't mean most basic; fundamentals are essentials. Our Foundations program is the artful introduction to the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu lifestyle and where the beginnings of great relationships are born.

BJJ Fundamentals

Frame works is where we focus on the why of Jiu-Jitsu fundamentals. Understanding the why facilitates the how. We take fundamental Jiu-Jitsu concepts to a higher level by exploring the importance of principles like “position before the submission." This class is also where live sparring is introduced and the importance of “aliveness” is driven home.

Having a Blast

We know it's important for kids to have fun during class so they stay engaged and interested. Having direct involvement in their own learning process does wonders for children, especially for those with short attention spans or those having trouble with schoolwork. They'll learn the benefits of staying on task and seeing their goals through to the end. These are some of the most important skills your child can learn, ones they'll take with them though their entire life. Helping them realize their goals, step by step, will help them in all aspects of life.

Safe space

Safety is one of our main concerns. Our coaches are highly trained in safe training methods where your child learns and grows in a safe way. In fact, our program is so safe that we can boast lower rates of injury then most playground sports like football, basketball, or even cheerleading.

As parents ourselves, we understand the apprehension most parents and children face when started something new. We make it our mission to have your child feel comfortable, have a great time and develop life skills.
